Reviewing Policy
My reviewing policies regarding ARCs sent to me are as follows:
Cost: I never have and never will charge money for reviews. All I ask for is a copy of the book and some patience.
The Book: A physical book is always welcome, but epubs are just as acceptable. I also love audiobooks. I prefer not to read pdfs as the font size isn’t adjustable, but will still accept them.
Time: If you have a deadline (like a launch date), let me know upfront. I will be honest about whether I can meet that timeline. Otherwise, it may take a while. If I accept an ARC from you, I promise to (eventually) write a review.
Where I post: Here, Amazon, Goodreads. If you would like the review anywhere else, let me know.
Rankings: I do not give rankings on my blog, but I know they are important, so I give out stars on other sites. Roughly, 3-5 are books I like. 2 stars if I didn’t really, but can find some merit.
Important Note: I do not “trash” books. I am honest, but I am not mean. Often, not liking a book is a matter of personal taste, and not a mark of quality. You wrote a whole book! I know how hard that is! I can generally find something in every book to appreciate. I write reviews because I love stories, not to put others down.
Genres I prefer:
Mythological retellings (especially Greek/Roman)
Fairy Tale retellings
Mystery/Thriller
Horror
Especially vampires as monsters, ghosts, haunted houses, small towns
Urban fantasy - fantasy in our world, or with light magic
Science Fiction - all kinds
Non-speculative fiction - Historical fiction, epic stories, etc.
Genres I am not the best fit for:
Romance
High Fantasy
Children’s/Middle Grade
Non-fiction
Genres I do NOT read/review:
Erotica
Extreme horror (graphic rape, very graphic murder, etc.)
I am open to pretty much any genre. If it’s not listed here, you can still inquire. I will read YA books that fit the above genres.
